See you here on Tuesday! :)

Bye Bye Christmas!

I snapped these photos a couple of weeks ago while I was packing away my Christmas decor.  It looks just as pretty in the boxes as they do on the tree!  I had three giant boxes of ornaments just for the tree!  Too pretty not to share!

And the tree?  Poor thing...dry as a bone with all the branches in a permanent state of droopiness from the weight of a million ornaments.  Thank you for your service this past holiday season tree...you were much enjoyed!  :)

Wondrous Baby Gifts!

My oh my has Olive been getting some real goodies!!  What a lucky girl!  Just the other day I had two wondrous handmade gifts arrive in the mail.  The first from Laurie from Magpie Ethel.  Can you guess which piece it is in this photo?

It's the little spun head girl in a vintage frosted carriage!  Laurie makes awesome goodies like this all the time (check out her shop) and both Olive and I feel so lucky to have been gifted with one to mark her arrival.  So so special!

And as if that wasn't enough...can you guess what else Laurie sent?

Oh yeah...an awesome vintage crepe stork!  I think this one is more for mommy...lol.  It will go with mommy's collection of storks once Olive's no longer a baby...but it will always be Olive's stork.  :)

And another great crafter, Lana, made this very special ornament for Olive.  Made from spun glass, dresden, and a gorgeous antique German paper scrap.  It's hanging from her chine cabinet and looks amazing!!  I think this too will go with mommy's stork collection when she's bigger.  Then maybe someday she'll have the whole collection!  :)

Thank you thank you!  Olive is a blessed baby!

Valentine's Day Update!

Love Basket - SOLD

Love is an amazing feeling.  Here, we are very familiar with the love between a boyfriend and girlfriend and husband and wife and have relished in that love for almost ten years (wow has it really been that long??).  But just recently as most of you know, we have been experiencing a new kind of love.  The love between a parent and child.  It's a love and bond that really is unconditional and binding for life.  We also are experiencing a love of family for the first time.  It's something that extends far beyond just the two of us.

When we think of Valentine's Day, we usually think of two lovers kissing by candlelight or holding hands in the park.  But Valentine's Day really celebrates all kinds of love.  Every kind of love there is that exists between people and it's a chance to slow down for a moment and let the people you love - whether they be your husband, wife, child, mother, grandmother, and on and on - know that you love them very much.

Valentines Day Update Announcement!

With Valentine’s Day less than a month away, the studio has been blushing quite a lot in the last week or so…that is, an explosion of pink and red piles of vintage and crafty goodness cover the work tables and cupids, angels, and sweet lovely girls are slowly taking shape.  We’ll have a collection of them ready soon and we hope you’ll snatch one or a few up to share with the ones you love (or yourself…that’s what I’d do!).  :)

Oh Baby!

Olive is three weeks old already!  I can't believe it!  And we managed to take some photos of her this weekend that weren't only just her peeking her eyes out of the swaddling blanket.  Enjoy!!  :)

Gifts from the Forest

I while back I posted about these amazing west coast acorns and pine cones sent to me from a very dear person and her friend, who collected these beauties in California and packaged them up so gorgeously for me.  They sent some more forest floor treasures and I just have to share them again!  Look how beautiful they are wrapped...

like in their own little cardboard shadow boxes...

...and two more boxes join the group!

Look at this large, pointy acorn!  Here in New York and New England all the acorns are very round...not pointy or long at all.  How unique!

And this past fall I collected some treasures of my own from the forest floor when we were camping at our friend Pete's property in Central NY.

Some princess pines and other interesting evergreens...that I'm pretty sure are maybe really large mosses...

I noticed that some of the vintage Christmas corsages I have include a sprig of real dried pine.  When we were camping, I noticed these growing on the edge of a sandy dune and recognized some of them as the same kind of evergreen sprig they used in the corsages.  I think they dried and dyed them.  They were so abundant I didn't feel bad collecting a few to use for my own Christmas creations.

So far they are drying nicely and still have most of their green color.  We'll see what they look like in about a year and if they'll need dying.  Either way I'm "dying" to use them!  :)
