Top o' the Mornin' to ya!
Time to celebrate the land of the green!! Saint Patrick's Day began by celebrating Saint Patrick, a 5th century ordained bishop in Ireland where he spread the teachings of the church and used the three-leafed shamrock to teach people about the holy trinity. March 17th, Saint Patrick's Day, marks the date of his death. Saint Patrick's Day in Ireland for many religious people is a holy day, where now in America, it serves as a day to celebrate Ireland, Irish people and Irish culture. Since many Irish Americans have mixed blood (like myself) and many non-Irish friends and family members...Saint Patrick's Day is a day for all of those who are not Irish to be an "Honorary Irishman or Irishwoman". Ireland, with it's wet, lush environment is green through and through and one day perhaps I'll be lucky enough to visit. Until then, I'll happily celebrate this country and it's merry culture from afar...with little green spun cotton, shamrock-clad characters. All of the lads and lasses today have Irish names too! I hope you'll come celebrate with me! :)
