I have shopped and admired and been so incredibly inspired by all things Anthropologie for many years now and we are so so incredibly thrilled and honored to have had the opportunity to work with the amazing people at Anthropologie to create a collection of ornaments for their stores. We designed 6 characters with an arctic theme: Eskimos riding a snow leopard and narwhal, a snow bunny, a ball balancing seal, a squid couple and squirrel couple (ok ok...the squirrels are more woodland than arctic, but who's really paying attention, right?). About 8 months ago I made one of each and sent them to Anthro headquarters, where they then worked with people in India to hand make thousands of them for the 175+ stores world wide. I've never much liked the idea of my work being reproduced, but knowing how much Anthropologie cares about the artists and the producers it works with, it was an easy decision to say yes! The finished pieces have a wonderfully primitive charm and it was so exciting to see them in person.
And what's more...they made an incredible stop motion animation starring our designs. Click here to see it on our website or Click here to see it on their website. It's brilliant and so well done...you HAVE to watch it!
I love the catalog photography...it makes me want to buy them myself so I can put them in my own little snowy wonderland!
Or log cabin wonderland...
Eskimo on snow leopard.
This is the display at Anthro in Manhattan on W 16th.
Olive found them charming too I think.
I have to admit...it's kinda pretty awesome to see my logo and signature there...
Anthropologie will always be one of the most inspiring places to visit for me (one of my favorite compliments is when people come to visit me and say that my house reminds them of Anthro!) and I'm so happy to have been a part of their holiday season this year!! :)
